My knowledge of homeschooling has grown over the past nine years that I have been teaching my children at home. I started out like everyone, lost and confused. At that time there was very little help for homeschool families, so I forged my own path. I researched state laws, combed over curriculum and implemented a trial and error system in home education. As I relaxed and had fun with it, things became easier and my creativity began to flow. I learned to use everyday experiences like grocery shopping as a lesson in math. Field trips to museums became history classes. I watched my children soak up learning like sponges.
Since we began, our family has increased in size and we have successfully transitioned our oldest son into college. I am Director of our local homeschool support group, as well as webmaster for our group's web site and Yahoo Group page. My family has become a living testimony to the benefits of homeschooling, and I am constantly being questioned by parents who are either new to the concept or simply frustrated with their current situation and seeking an alternative to public school for their children. Many hours are spent on the phone and typing emails of encouragement to these struggling folks, and I have been looking for a better way to get my years of experience into these yearning hands. This blog opportunity, I believe, is the answer I've been looking for. My aim is to inform anyone who wants to know about homeschooling, and to equip those who wish to try it for themselves. I've been blessed, and now it's my time to bless others.

Thank you for selecting me for the pilot blog program. I am very knowledgeable regarding all aspects of homeschooling, but if I had to narrow down the topics to pick one area that I am an expert in, it would be developing homeschool lesson plans. This includes lesson plans from preschool to twelfth grade and also includes using the Internet and available resources to complete your own lessons. This is a vast subject and the most crucial aspect of homeschooling, aside from following homeschool laws and regulations.
After selecting lesson plans, I would then say that my next area of expertise would be homeschooling laws state by state. These laws vary and it is imperative that families understand the options available within their state. It is also important to know what the laws are if you plan to move to another state.

I am currently a Homeschooling Mom, and am an expert at finding lessons and projects on the web for homeschoolers. I also love to find tidbits on interesting discoveries and happenings are occurring right now in our Universe. As homeschooling grows larger and larger even Corporations and companies are becoming involved in the Homeschooling process and I am able to dig these activities up through my Homeschooling Topix Page. Webpages, projects and discoveries are probably the best assets I can bring to this ChaCha project.

I am a homeschooling Mom, and even before I started homeschooling, spent years posting articles on homeschooling on my blogs and newsletters. I feel I am successful at it, and love helping others who are interested in homeschooling also. I also run a Homeschooling news page for Topix.com

I have been a homeschooling mom for the past 7 years. I work closely with a local homeschool co-op of over 130 families. In this capacity, I teach electives to children ages 5 to 12. Some of the subjects I have taught are Elections, Five Senses, Christian Music Appreciation, Manners, and others. I am also responsible for editing and distributing a monthly newsletter to this same group of homeschoolers. The newsletter includes field trip opportunities, as well as a calendar of events, and other news sent in by the families. I plan to continue homeschooling until my youngest child (now in 4th grade) graduates from high school.

Hello! My name is Denise Oliveri. I am a homeschooling mom of 7 years. I have three boys ages 9, 11, and 13. I plan to homeschool all the way through high school. In this time of homeschooling I have taught electives through a local homeschool co-op, teaching anything from the Elections Process to Christian Music Appreciation. I thoroughly enjoy the time I get to spend with my kids, and the fact that we can do many field trips throughout the year. We stay just as busy outside of the house, as we do learning through workbooks and computer programs. The bottom line is, we are a homeschooling family and we use every resource for teaching that we can.

As a Homeschool blogger, I look forward to writing posts that involve the latest national news that has to do with Homeschooling, such as laws being introduced/passed that legislate homeschooling (a huge issue among homeschooling families) creative ideas for curriculum, sharing with readers my own homeschooling experience and curriculum as well as that of homeschooling friends that I have, and general advice or information concerning homeschooling for those who are interested in it or curious if it is something they can pull off themselves. I have fielded a lot of questions from people wondering how I did it (home-schooled). I know a lot of parents who think they don't have what it takes to home-school, or just don't know what it takes and would like to know. These are the types of things I can provide insight on. I also think it would be interesting/helpful to provide links to specific products/curriculum for sale that would be of interest to home-schoolers.

I am 19 years old and currently a sophomore at Mississippi State University. My parents decided to home-school me before I was born and I was educated in my home until I graduated from high-school. When I was a senior in high-school my mom decided that it would be good for my younger sister and I to get involved in a local home-school association. I was able to be a part of what we called the "senior class" which hung out as a group and planned a graduation ceremony for the 12 seniors in my class (though, I was never in a "class").
While in high-school, I worked a part-time job at a local animal hospital. I then applied and was accepted for a position in the Early Entry Program at the College of Veterinary Medicine at Mississippi State University.
Home-schooling prepared me for college in a way that I don't think public or private school could have done; I am very motivated.
I will enter vet school at the start of my undergraduate senior year and I am looking forward to the challenges that await me.
